The Faith Support Ministry Team kicked off the New Year with a Planning meeting
on January 16th. Listed below are brief descriptions of ministry goals set for
2005:
1. Increase Prayer Support
Because we believe God answers prayer, it is our goal to increase prayer support
for those we are serving. FSM Team Members are seeking out individuals who will
commit to the following challenge:
Five-Minutes-A-Week Prayer Challenge
1. Visit www.faithcabot.org once a week
2. Look under “Ministries” and find FSM.
3. Click on “Those We Support” and read the updated information about each
person.
4. Pray for them for 5 minutes.
2. Increase Encouragement Efforts
It is our goal to insure every person we support will receive regular
expressions of encouragement through the following efforts:
Encouragement Card Campaign – Pat Bone
Pat is leading the FSM Encouragement Card Campaign. She will distribute packets
of cards to be mailed regularly to those we support.
Songs of Encouragement CD – Mark Binns
Mark has generously agreed to produce a special CD containing instrumental and
vocal music directed toward encouraging those supported by the Faith Support
Ministry. Each patient will receive a CD. Watch for updates about this project!
Children’s Art Contest – Angie Bowman
FSM will sponsor a children’s art contest directed by Angie Bowman. Elementary
age children will submit their best art designed “to make sick people feel
better.” Ultimately the art will be used for FSM greeting cards. Details of the
contest will be announced soon.
Internet Support
Plans are on the drawing board to add an on-line Support Group Forum to the
ministry. What an exciting tool this will be as we offer another avenue of
encouragement for those we support. Watch for details!
3. Increase Community Involvement – Pat Watkins
Pat is coordinating FSM involvement with Relay for Life in Cabot on May 13th.
She will also be working on a community project in conjunction with Breast
Cancer Awareness Month in October. Please prayerfully consider participating in
these two important events.
4. Increase Fund Raising Activities
Cookbooks
The Ladies of Faith organization has dedicated their spring fundraising activity
to the Faith Support Ministry. They are preparing a cookbook from the recipes of
Faith members as well as a few from some individuals we are supporting. The
books should be ready for sale in time for Mother’s Day. We are humbly grateful
to receive the proceeds of this activity. We are prayerfully considering God’s
will as we utilize these funds to provide significant support to someone with
cancer or other long term illness.
Twelve for Twelve Program
The Twelve for Twelve Program is a simple commitment to donate $12.00 a month to
FSM for the 12 months of 2005. Please consider making this commitment and watch
how God blesses your generosity.
Songs of Encouragement CD Sales
In addition to providing encouragement for those in the ministry, the Mark Binns
Songs of Encouragement CD will be made available for sale. Mark is graciously
donating a portion of the sales revenue to FSM. We are humbly grateful to Mark
for committing his life and talent to the Lord and for sharing the benefits with
FSM.
Greeting Card Sales
FSM plans to compile a collection of greeting cards featuring children’s art
produced by the upcoming contest. These cards will be used in the ministry’s
Encouragement Card program and will also be sold as a fundraising activity.
* * *
All funds donated to the Faith Support Ministry or generated by fundraising
activities will be used to encourage those we support and meet specific needs of
these individuals.
4. Increase Ministry Awareness
A very important goal for 2005 is to increase public awareness of the Faith
Support Ministry. Those we are supporting have come into the ministry through
someone’s burden about their illness. If you know someone (family member,
friend, co-worker) who is suffering with cancer or other long term illness,
please make the FSM team aware so we can reach out to them with prayer and
encouragement!
